Title
Spatial Intelligence for Mobility and Resilient Communities
Abstract
Human mobility connects people to essential services, social relationships, and opportunities. It also reveals how communities experience sudden shocks, such as disasters, and persistent stresses, such as inequality and social isolation. This talk introduces our research on spatial intelligence for understanding these challenges, with a particular focus on mobility and independence in an ageing society. Drawing on large-scale mobility data and cross-national longitudinal studies, we examine how ageing communities access essential services and how walking capability changes across populations. These studies reveal inequalities in both the environments people navigate and their capacity to move independently. Together, they motivate an approach to community resilience that accounts for changing mobility needs throughout later life. The talk concludes with emerging opportunities for spatial AI to represent diverse mobility capabilities and support the design of accessible, age-inclusive communities.
Short Bio
